DiabetesPal App Reviews

Crappy Program

Program worked well for 6 weeks. Opened the program again today and all data between first week and now was lost. Thank you very much - not. I will look for an alternative now.

Simply the best DIABETES application for Mac OS & iPhone/iPad devices

Absolutely love this program. It makes my life easier to keep track of highs/lows and all other important record types/trackers. Importing records from my meter is simple and consumes very little time thus ensuring accuracy for blood sugar and insulin readings. The absolute best part is the Glucose Diary and how you can track your blood glucose readings for before/after meals and have those readings automatically appear on my iPhone/iPad (data back up) as well as my Macbook! No fear of losing months if not years of data records captured! The developer is very responsive to feedback and input to make the application better! Which at this point only minor tweaks is what would be needed.

vastly improved

The author worked with me to correct the problems on thed previous version of both the OS X and IOSversions of the app. He also made considerable improvements on both the OS X and the IOS versions. I can now reccomend this app. Both the OS X and IOS versions are easy to use and they coordinate via iCloud. Very handy.

Excellent!

Great application with extensive support for various units. I like that you can change the standard units in the preferences, yet be able to selectively enter a new value in a different unit. It is the only Diabetes App that is iCloud enabled. This gives me great flexibility to add my data on any of my devices even on my iPhone. The reports are great and it is very useful that you can compile a report for your doctor with the special report window. It has never been easier to share the data with my doctor. The developer even took care to add a proper user manual to the application to explain the most important features of the application. I sent a mail to the developer using the Send Feedback feature and he answered my questions very quickly.

best of breed

I’ve tries every one of the glucose/diabetes apps. This one is the best of the bunch. It records about everything and is easy to use. one more star if it had an input function for me to recover readings in other, now unuseds, apps.

It needs multiple user support

I am a RN trying to manage my parents diabetes. Unfortunetely I can only use this app with mom or dad but I cannot have separate profiles for both. This app shold definetely have multiple user support.

just 1 problem

I like the graph especially. I just downloaded from the apple apps. I got done typing in all my blood sugar values, then I go back to make sure they were all mg/dl instead of the other choice. When I went in to edit each one, the blood sugar number changes to a smaller decimal number. I hope I can get it back to how it was. I want to print this out for my doc appointment this week.

1 Problem

My glucose is measure in mmol/l and i want to be measure in mg/dl. Everything else it seems alright.

Wonderfully Detailed / Excellent Developer support

I’m not insulin dependent, so can’t speak to those needs, but seems to be a fully detailed app for diabetes management. I’m still exploring it’s capabilities. Communicated directly with the Swiss developer (fast turnaround emails) when I couldn’t make the app convert to mg/ throughout the site. Pascal was right there to walk me trough it. The preference settings are in the pull down header at the top of the app. Developed from personnal need to help his own child manage his condition, Pascal said he is sharing the app for anyone else who might find it helpful. He is very personnally committed to maintaining and improving the app as required. Good to know if you’re going to depend on it for a long time. I would definitely try this. Especially if you travel and have to share data in two different measurement standards.

Nice Application but…Bad iCloud sync performance

Great application, very well thought out and well organized. It is comprehencive for diabetes care. However, the sync between multiple iMacs, iPhone, & iPad through iCloud is erratic. I tried turning off iCloud syns and back on to no avail. Even on the same wifi network. I think they need to work on iCloud push sync.

Quit working...

Loved this app, but it stopped syncing with other devices via iCloud and it has now stopped working all together. Since this is an app that I need to use daily, I had to find something else. Too bad.

Tech support stinks, does not sync wt companion app

As a desktop app the data entry is smooth and flexible. HOWEVER icloud sync does not work with companion app or website. So the mobile app is useless for logging. So unless you are at the desktop logging you are better off with a home brewed spreadsheet. I contacted tech support and gave them a concise description of the icloud sync issues and they responded with a few additions questions. I replied and never heard from them again. I replied a few additional times with no response. Basically a black hole. There are too many other companies that do support thier products to waste time on one that could care less.

Works great with iOS app, more secure than Bayer’s software

Update for version 1.8 — This app just keeps getting better and better. Based on my own informal survey of diabetes data management apps for the Mac, I think this is the BEST one available for the following reasons: 1. The developer is VERY responsive to questions and feedback. A huge corporation has thousands of employees to handle customer service, but the ones to whom I wrote asking for support on their apps took a week or more to respond. While I think the developer is the only one who supports this app — and has a personal life to balance — I got responses the same day or next day. My only advice to others is, be reasonable and take into account the difference in time zones when expecting a response. 2. This app was the only one I found for the Mac that supported data import from multiple meters AND the import of CSV data that was exported from other diabetes data management apps. 3. The price is very, very reasonable. The matching iOS version and the integration with iCloud are unique and valuable — both work together! This is a wonderful app and I recommend it! Five stars! ============= original title: Works great with iOS app, more secure than Bayer’s software I originally bought this app because I was concerend about the security of the Bayer GlucoFacts software that uses an older version of Java for both the Mac and Windows. Moreover, the Bayer software isn’t signed and I wasn’t comfortable relaxing my security settings. So, I looked on the Mac App Store for an app that might be a more secure alternative. Before buying the app, I sent a note to the developer asking how the software read results from the Contour Next USB meter. I got a response within 18 hours that answered my question, bought the app, and imported results from my Bayer Contour Next USB meter without any problems. I turned on iCloud sync, then bought the iOS versions on the same day. The iCloud sync worked to duplicate results from the Mac version to my iPhone — a great form of automatic backup. In my experience so far, technical support is great and the software works with my meter. While it lacks some of the reports of other glucose data software I’ve used, it is far more secure than Bayer’s version and I hope the developer will continue to add improvements.

Needs another update

A very useful program and functioned well under 10.10.5, However under 10.11 it has lost most of it’s functionality.

Better of those I’ve seen

Newly diagnosed diabetic and found this app to contain everything I need…or so I thought. Although not too much of a need, I started tracking my blood pressure and the reports/graphs are anything but the BP - the input form has both sys/dia, but measures in mmgl? The reports and graphs both mix pulse with glucose (of which it isn’t reading). Seems that everything for BP/Pulse is worthless - however, all other reports that I use for glucose readings are perfect for my needs (and likely my doctor). Fix the BP/Pulse issues and I’d rate it 5 stars. I don’t use insulin and don’t track medications so I haven’t looked at those. VERY nice layout, easy to read, easy to follow, and easy to enter data (given a few issues with input labels). Really like this app, use it only on my MAC and don’t sync with iCloud.

Great

This is a very though out app. Love how easy it is to use and it synch between my mac, iPad and iPhone automatically. I use it everyday. Had a problem long time ago but the developer got back to me right away and problem was solved. Great price for a ton of stuff. Highly recommend. Lars R

Best I’ve used and I have tried several.

This is the best and easiest way to track blood glucose and several oher factors all in one place. The report feature lets my Dr. see whats going on quickly and easily. He always asks about how I get such detailed reports. Wish there was a way to add multiple users as I care for my elderly father and test his blood 2x daily as well as my own. Customer service has been terrific and very easy to deal with.

Diabetes Pal is a great app

Worth every penny and more. Has everything I need to keep track of my diabetic health. Customer support is very responsive. Makes all the needle sticks make sense.

Only way to read the FreeStyle Precision NEO on a Mac

This is the only software which can read my FreeStyle Precision NEO on my Mac.

Great in iOS or OS X.

I have used both the iOS and the Os X version of DiapetesPal for some time now. Early on there were some issues with the way that iCloud was supported - but those issues are long past. The best thing I can say is that is spectacular! Both versions are intuitive, they work great together using iCloud, and the author responds rapidly to email. My doctor really likes the report summaries it produces and I really like the graphs and charts. Both are well worth the cost and I highly recommend both of them (I am a type 2 diabetic).
